Our Story Runs Deep

“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”‬

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬-‭7‬

Five Generations.
One Purpose.

We vow to honor our history, serve our community, and give God the glory for every good thing that grows on this land.

Our Roots

The Beginning:

Fred & The First Farm

Our story begins in 1955, when Fred Jollisant moved his young family from Pearland to Plantersville, Texas. After losing his wife at a young age, Fred sold his dairy in Pearland and purchased another already in operation here in Grimes County. He worked long days milking cows and tending to the land, building a foundation that would become our family’s legacy.

Life on the farm wasn’t easy, but it was honest — every gallon of milk, every acre worked was a step toward a better life. Fred’s hard work and determination were passed down to his son Larry, who grew up right here on the farm, learning to milk cows before the sun even rose.

The Timeline

Larry’s Legacy: From Dairy to Dirt Roads

As a teenager, Larry Jollisant left school early to work full-time on the dairy. He carried forward the values of his father — hard work, family, and perseverance — but always had a drive to build something more.

Larry married Sandra’s mom when they were just 16 and 18 years old. Together, they worked side by side in the dairy, pouring everything into the farm and their young family. After several years, Larry began hauling pulpwood and eventually moved into the house-moving business — still working with his hands, still driven by that same farmer’s spirit.

But farming was in his blood, and it wouldn’t stay dormant for long. In 2012, Larry returned to his roots and began farming strawberries — the start of what would become Jollisant Farms. Customers came from all around to pick berries and enjoy time outdoors. Sandra, who lived on the property, started a small garden in front of her house. What began as a few rows for personal use turned into visitors wanting to pick their own veggies — and that’s when everything changed.

Family Farms Is Born

In March of 2023, Sandra’s father sold the farm to her and her husband Tim, marking the beginning of a new era.

Together with their children, grandkids, and closest friends, they renamed it Family Farms — a name that perfectly reflects the generations of farmers before them and the ones yet to come.

The farm today runs with the help of every generation — each person contributing their heart and hands.

Aileasha helps with harvesting melons, Elizabeth plants and harvests with her husband Todd (the farm’s handyman), Julee manages the books while her husband Conner joins in on watermelon harvests, and Cheyenne helps with business decisions and welding projects.

Every grandchild plays a part — whether picking vegetables, feeding animals, or working in the farm store. Family Farms isn’t just a name; it’s a reflection of the generations that make it thrive.

Faith Is Our Foundation

Every morning on the farm begins with prayer and scripture. It’s how we start the day, grounding ourselves in gratitude and purpose.

Family Farms partners with Light House Sober Living, providing new clients the opportunity to work on the farm or at our sister business, Relay Station, until they’re ready to reenter the workforce. Many of them say the peace of the farm helps them heal and find a new way of life — and we believe that’s no coincidence.

God’s hand is in every part of this farm — in the soil, the animals, the crops, and the people who visit. We give Him all the glory for every blessing that grows here.

The Living Heart Of The Farm

The farm is home to more than just our family — it’s alive with animals, wildlife, and stories of its own.

Our lake is stocked with F1 Bass, crappie, red ear, and bluegill, and it’s reserved for catch-and-release fishing. It’s also where more than 20 people have been baptized, including Shelley and her daughter Cheyenne.

Each season, families of geese return — last count, over 119 — raising their young and teaching them to fly right here on the farm. Cottontails and a small red fox family roam the property, reminding us that this land is full of life.

Our Jersey cows are some of our most cherished residents — full of personality and affection, many of them nurse cows. Even our mini Aussies are part of the family, our “couch buddies” after long farm days.

Growing Goodness the Natural Way

We’ve always used organic growing methods, and we’ll continue to honor that tradition for generations to come. Everything we make — from our fresh produce to our homemade jams, jellies, pickles, and honey-based treats — comes straight from the land we work and love.

Our signature “Jolli Pops” are made from our own fruit and honey — no additives, just pure, simple goodness.

The farm is non-smoking and alcohol-free, creating a wholesome environment for families to enjoy time together. Many visitors tell us they come here to unwind, reconnect, and experience peace — something we believe only comes when you’re surrounded by God’s creation.

Our Mission Today

That’s something we say often around here. The farm is a place where kids can play freely, get dirty, and discover where their food really comes from.

We don’t just grow crops — we grow memories, teach respect for the land, and share a legacy of faith and family that started over 70 years ago.

Family Farms isn’t just our business — it’s our calling.
